Playerbase, it's the life- blood of an online based game, its growth and stability are vital to the overall health of the game and communication between development and players is central to the role of a CPM, and to my focus as a CPM1 candidate.
The ability to find and communicate pertinent information to CCP regarding the game and the players is foundational to the work of a CPM. The inverse is also true, even with the NDA present it is important for a CPM to make best efforts to fill in the gaps between Dev posts and keep the community as informed as possible to maintain a high level of useful feedback from the players.
Emergent Game-play - The fundamental draw of a persistent sandbox game, regardless of type, is emergent game-play. Stated simply, it is the ability of players to make their own choices and define their own play experience.
A pillar of emergent game-play is player driven content, which requires robust tools to truly flourish. I intend to continue to push for more data, more social management tools, and additional flexibility and customization both in and out of match so that players can get the most out of their time both in Dust and moving into Legion on PC & PS4.
Which brings me to platform integration. I play on both console and PC, I've enjoyed both experience and firmly believe in the idea of Legion coming to both PC and PS4. While I acknowledge that this is a long term goal as Legion is not even in beta state yet, I do not believe it is too early to keep a dual platform approach in mind even as CCPs choice of PC focused development moves forward. In short, I hope to foster development choices that are not only good for the game, but support an expanded community on both the PS4 and PC in the coming days of Legion.
I welcome questions from the community regarding my candidacy, my general profile is included below for reference.

Profile: Cross Atu
Real Life Qualifications: Prior community liaison/rep experience for MMORPG (Hellgate: London), including interacting with the community, gathering ideas and information and creation of executive summaries
Communication: Skype: Cross Atu Chat Channel: CPM1 Candidate Email: CrossAtu69[at]gmail[dot]com EVE character: Cross Lui Greine
Expectations: To maximize CPM status as a stake-holder in the continuing development of Dust-Legion via open communication with CCP, the CSM and fellow CPM members. I have held a similar community position before and this position will no doubt contain some of the same long hours, stress and frustration, but it will also contain a rewarding opportunity to participate in seeing a game I've been playing since its early beta stages reach more of its potential. I do not expect to agree with every idea presented by my fellow CPMs, nor all of those selected by CCP, I do however expect to be able to work with them in a broad way for the health and value of the game regardless of our individual play styles, meta interests, or personalities. In game, the mentality "if it's red it's dead" serves well in field combat, in chambers - as in the feedback forums - it is important to put dispassionate analysis, open discourse, and courtesy for ideas contrary to your own, at the forefront. If serving as a member of the CPM I will debate stronger for the choices I believe most support the game and the community, but I will do so with the firm intention not to let such debates degenerate into non-productive arguments. The CPM is about the players voice not about any council members ego.
Experience with NDAGÇÖs: I have operated under NDAGÇÖs
Availability:Fluctuating, primary afternoons/evenings Mountain Standard Time.
DUST based Experience:
- Closed beta veteran.
- Dabbled in most roles Dust has to offer.
- Long time support logistics - part of the "I'll rep you for 0 WP" club.
- Leadership positions within Dust corps and alliances since closed beta
- Participation in FW, PC, and tournament.
- Extensive testing across specialized alts, including a 0 SP alt for direct testing of the NPE and raw stats/effect of base gear.
- Active recruitment and training of players new to Dust.
DUST Community Contributions: (examples include)
- Participation in the training grounds.
- Participation in feedback and testing since closed beta.
DUST Priorities: - Continued Dust development - Building more sandcastles (player choices) into the sandbox - New Player Exprience - Supporting information exchange between CCP and the community. - Improving PC, bugs, playability, and economic balance. - Polishing game wide balance - Supporting continuing community events.
EVE Experience: 2 years, and counting, in EVE with four accounts spanning skill sets in Science, Production, Mining, Mission Running, Hauling, Trading, and the joys of W-Space.
Legion Priorities: Emergent Game play
- Persistence (transfer of **meaningful** char aspects to Legion)[list]
- Vetran Priority moving from Dust 514 to Legion
- Transparency from CCP with the community
- EVE:O - Dust/Legion Link
- NPE
- Tiericide
- Player tools (UI polish and accessibility with an eye to cross platform usability)
Gaming Background: Gamer since 1987 across multiple genres including; RTS, FPS, RPG, MMO, roguelike and console titles (starting with Frogger on the Atari) too numerous to list.

In an effort to be proactive I have gathered questions asked of the other candidates by Jaysyn Larrisen and answered them here for community perusal.
1) Other than the forums how do you intend to collect and communicate requests, needs, POV of the community? In particular, those outside your corp / alliance. In game mail, EVE mail, Skype, e-mail. Communication is important and I'm not ruling out any specific methods at this time. It is one of my foremost goals to let the community know that if they are encountering a problem, or a possibility, they can bring information (the more and clearer the better) about it to me and I will give the matter my attention and/or pass it along to the correct party. In short I seek to be a conduit for effective communication between the community and CCP.
2) What level of interaction would you like to establish between the CPM and CSM? I am in full support of CPM/CSM interaction to find points of symbiosis within the ongoing development of Dust-Legion and EVE:O. Ideally New Eden will be more than a name or shared IP it will be a truly shared sandbox for a growing number of sovereign games from CCP. If this is to be accomplished I see representation from the CSM, CPM, and eventually like bodies from other titles suck as Valkyrie, to be of vital import.
3) What are the top 3 short term (next 2mo's) changes you would encourage CCP to make? I'm looking for concrete examples that are realistic to achieve.
- Revisions to PC - This is a large goal but it's been in the works for some time now, I'd strongly advocate it be finished and rolled out.
- Reabeling Corp Battles - Unless there is an unknown technical barrier to this I would strongly push for this community tool to be returned and once again in the hands of community content creators
- Balance Polish - There are various areas that could use some polish when it comes to balance but at this point which one is addressed matters less than CCP demonstrating in the wake of Fanfest that they are still committed to balancing and polishing the game.
4) What are the top 3 mid term (next 6mo's) changes you would encourage CCP to make? [list=1]
- Addition of new content - CCPs current statements seem to indicate that new weapons etc are still on the table and I'd like to see things like the heavy weapons, equipment offerings etc filled out more completely within the next 6 months. As a member of the CPM I'd continue to push for what server side updates encompass and strive to help expedite the continued delivery of new content to Dust 514 even in the face of current development resources.
- A new socekt set - This is admittedly a bit of a long shot with the current state of development, however in light of the value added by the last map/socket addition to Dust I'd encourage CCP to give strong consideration to releasing another map/socket update within the next 6-8 months.
- Have CCP publish a clear road map regarding the planned progression from Dust into Legion so that players can continue to make informed persistent choices in the face of the upcoming transition down the road.

5)What aspect or features in Legion that you've heard of are you most interested in working on? What features discussed so far are you most concerned about and why? The progression system and item life-cycle both interest me greatly, I find them to hold a lot of promise so long as we makes sure they aren't watered down or oversimplified. While I consider it vital to preserve player choice and customization of skills, gear, and play style I do not believe that means the system has to be inaccessible or otherwise adversely impact the NPE. I look forward to working with CCP Z and the CPM to find ways we can 'have our cake and eat it too' regarding complexity and accessibility.
The two areas that currently concern me the most with regards to Legion are; 1. Dust-Legion persistence. Maintaining strong and clear value transfer of characters currently active in Dust as they move to Legion. The community has put a lot of time, energy, and in many cases money, into Dust and I consider it imperative that those investments be meaningfully carried over into Legion. A simple transfer of cosmetic elements such as name and employment history alone will not suffice and the more resoundingly CCP unequivocally states that transfers will contain the tangible value of things like SP and assets which we've all worked so hard for the better. 2. Respecs - While I would readily support a one time only, non-bankable respec for characters coming out of the academy I am adamantly opposed to limitless respecs within Dust or indeed any New Eden game. A detailed analysis would create a huge wall of text but I'll give the summation here; [b]If CCP is providing the robust NPE, transparent communication, and continuing balance that they should be respecs past the academy will not be needed. Further limitless respecs will damage the economy, emergent game play, long term player retention and create artifical barriers between Legion and other New Eden games. Limitless respecs also disadvantage newer players. (More info)
6) In Spring of 2015, when CPM1's term is up, what would you want people to have said about your tenure as a CPM member? That I was able to effectively work with my contemporaries in the CPM and CSM to facilitate growth in the player base, added fun value and ultimately a net optimistic outlook regarding the future of Dust-Legion. At minimum I'd hope that all could agree I'd played a positive role in fostering transparency from CCP and communication with the community at large.
7) Will you be creating a channel for folks to meet and squad with you during the period before the election? I am a participant in the CPM1 Candidate channel and welcome anyone who is interested to find me there. I will be happy to make time for squads and conversations with my fellow mercs in the lead up to the elections.

Pokey, Zatara, Jackal, thank you each for your posts. Considering the activity you've each had within the community and your willingness to voice both your concerns and ideas couldn't have asked for a better opening to this thread. I look forward to running with each of you in the lead up to the election, and who knows maybe we'll be seeing a lot more of each other after that
Mean time I'd love to start touching base a bit more often, CPM tag or no we can work collaboratively towards a healthy Dust and I think you'll agree when I say now is a key time to do that.
Also, I'd love to get in on that Skype Channel, who should I reach out to for the invite?

[quote=Jaysyn Larrisen]Cross,
Really glad you stepped up for a run at CPM. You've always been about providing positive solutions and you have an intuitive grasp of how mechanics will work & be received by the player base writ large. From a personal communication standpoint you've always been able to articulate positions with logic, maturity, and humor...even when you are in a potentially volatile discussion. I really think it's bodes well that high quality candidates are continuing to step up (almost daily in fact) post FanFest to work for the community and the game.Quote:Thank you Jay, you're right I've seen possibilities in the FanFest announcement even if it was handled poorly, but I also know that potential and tangible aren't synonymous and that's why I feel now is so key a time to get involved in providing the community with more tangible examples of that potential being actualized. Quote:So, since you snagged most of my normal questions I'll have to present you with a couple more...
1) Based on your current observations what do you anticipate being the single most difficult issue for the CPM to deal with in regards to Dust? And for Legion? Currently I believe continuing to provide value added developments within Dust will be it's hardest challenge. To put a finer point on it, doing enough in support of Dust development so that the community knows it's not a dead game is going to take work. That being said I fully believe it's an attainable goal with a strong and active CPM1. Legion is another story again, where I think the real challenge is going to be a conceptual one. That of letting the lessons of Dust 514 advise the development of Legion without limiting us to repeating the same choices (and in some case problems) simply because they are familiar. The key here, in my current perception, is to keep viewing Dust-Legion as parts of the same life cycle and taking the opportunity Dust provides to get hands on player input regarding many aspects of Legion even prior to beta (and of course moving forward throughout). Quote:2) What are a couple areas that you are eager to work jointly with the CSM on the EVE side? Finding ways to increase the social link via FW is one that springs easily to mind, linking the games is key but those mechanics are only valuable in service to linking the players and creating a united New Eden community. There will be sub-groups to that of course, there are already such groups within EVE:O and D514 but trying to find ways no matter how large or small to make this a New Eden community would be great. Further, in light of some of the resistance and in other cases apathy expressed by blocks of EVE players regarding D514 I hope the CPM can work closely with the CSM regarding Legion moving forward so that having a new 'sibling' within New Eden is value added to EVE without making Legion a secondary or dependent project. In my view the more robust new entries into the world of New Eden are, the better for players of all the games in the long run. [quote]3) Top 3 specific balance issues you want fixed in the next server side patch to hit Dust? Well since we're talking balance issues and not bugs I believe the following are key; (but before I launch into them I'd like to invite the community to make a case for the inclusion of any balance issues I may overlook here, I play the game a lot but that doesn't make me omniscient)
- Cloak - I like this tool, I enjoy its presence in game and hope to see it remain viable. Having said that I think it's clear that this asset could use some polish and likely a bit of scaling back at some meta levels. I haven't tested this myself as rigorously as I'd like but the first aspect I'd look at is the ability to attack from cloak, with an eye to increasing the delay between decloak and first attack.
- Making weapons useful - We have a lot of content in Dust but not all of it is useful in the current game state outside of novelty. Weapons like the PLC and SL, among others, could use varying degrees of touch up to make them more legitimately viable.
- REs; these guys offer some great and unique play elements such as laying traps or establishing zones of control over choke-points. As with the cloak, I wouldn't want to see the RE lose it's utility but in current game state it is better at AV than many 'AV only' weapons such as the AV Nade and Proxy, as well as being a better nade than the Locus in many cases etc.
I think a tone down, in light of its versatility, to the raw power of the RE is needed, perhaps in the forum of a mild to slight increase in the delay between deployment and the ability to trigger the RE shifting it more firmly into a tactical niche and out of the 'jack of all trades' position it currently holds.
- CR - I know I'm stepping beyond three points here, but I think it's fairly evident from both in game and looking at threads like the Min Commando thread from CCP Rattati that the CR needs some polish.
I've capped out my word limit so I'll draw this to a close here, thanks Jay for the questions and helping Fox keep all CPM1 hopefuls on our toes during the lead up to the elections.
Cheers, Cross

Unfortunately I think this brings the number of candidates I would like to see on the CPM to 8, so the race is finally on.
Thanks Fox, both for the vote of confidence and for the stimulating discussion in your 'Recognition of DUST vets in Legion' thread. I try not to post without first considering my point of view, and as such I don't readily alter it without new ideas or information being brought to the fore, but I do not assume that means I am always correct or have the whole story. I thrive on lively constructive discussions like ours, in my view they are one of the strongest avenues for finding new/innovative solutions to points of contention.
Speaking of contention, even if my latecomer status puts me a bit behind my contemporaries with regards to getting my platform out to the community I would rather be in a field of too many viable CPM1 candidates than a field of too few. In speaking with my fellow candidates via Skype and reading their posts on these forums I have become more optimistic about CPM1 and the future of Dust-Legion. There is no question that we all have our disagreements, but that is vital to a well rounded council, and our discussions so far lend me confidence that we can work together constructively even when we lock horns.

However it is an abstract concept, so what I would like is to hear your definition of community. No right or wrong answers here, just looking to get a better feel of where you are coming from.
Community is obviously diverse in the widest sense it is everyone who plays the game, and as a CPM I think it's important not to forget that.
Moving deeper there are sub-communities within the larger one, there are of course alliances and corps, but even more there are communities which form based on play style, role. experiences, et al These sub-communities are key when it comes to getting a clear understanding of the meta game and the current state of balance.
Drawing an even tighter focus there's a specific sort of community even within those various sub-communities. I don't have a term for this type but it's the folks who are passionate about the game, who crunch numbers, talk to other players read threads, test fits, who really dig into the game and the larger community and try to understand how it all interacts.
This last type, the type who when they're frustrated by something broken, see a bug, or have an inspiration, take the time to articulate those ideas and information to CCP and/or the CSM they are the ones whos voices ring loudest because their information and presentation are most focused - and hopefully most clear as well. Some examples from my own experience (which are in no way an exhaustive list) would be; I-Shayz-I, Arkena Wyrnspire, Fox Gaden, John Demonsbane, KAGEHOSHI Horned Wolf, RedBleach LeSanglant, virgindestroyer7, to name but a few.
The members of CPM0 and my fellow candidates for CPM 1 are also good examples.
At the end of the day, agree with them or not - and believe me I've done both - the individuals who speak up are the most likely to be heard.
"That's great, but what does that mean in practice?" I've painted with an abstract brush above, so let me take this chance to tell you what it means for my weekly work as a member of CPM 1, and that comes down to two main things.
1st - Keeping an ear to the ground with regards to new players so that when you bring a friend into the game they're telling you "thanks, this is really a lot of fun" not "none of this makes any sense, it's frustrating and no fun, gtfo"
2nd - Listening too (as well as seeking out) the voices and views from within the diverse aspects/sub-communities within game and then distilling those seasoned perspectives for presentation to CCP.
In short my job as a member of the CPM, once elected, is to ask for your feedback as readily and eagerly as I've asked for your vote.

Question for players reading this thread, what are your top 3 desired updates to Dust 514 at this point? Perhaps construct two lists of top 3, first being most desired, second being most desired that you feel confident fit within the current state of development resources.

Voting is in many ways about who votes. In a game or otherwise those who actually vote tend to be a minority. In this case (unlike IRL politics) there is every reason to represent everyone rather than focus on some select sub-group so in theory (time will tell if this works in practice) being open to communicating with everyone is the most effective idea, not just for votes but for actually doing the job if elected.
At minimum I want to make sure that I'm an effective candidate. If I am then should I not be elected I've done some good work. On the other hand if I'm divisive, deaf to the community or adversarial then even if I am elected I won't be contributing positively to the process.
"Lone Wolf'ing" is often bad practice in Dust, but it's worse practice for a member of the CPM. Whoever is ultimately selected to fill those seven seats I hope they keep a firm focus on Good of the game > personal play style or preferences of any single player sub-group

Vote for me How is electing you CPM going to effect anything? If you have good ideas, post them in the feedback section and engage in discussions. CPM is not needed. If you want to do something amazing, get CCP to care for the feedback section like they claim to care about lolCPM. But, none of the CPM Canadidiates even touch upon that subject, why? Because it makes there desired seat look bad. But, in honestly, if CPM wants to be effective they should be aggressively pointing CCP to the feedback section and having them post the questions there that they give to CPM in meetings. As Xel correctly points out communicating with CCP is about more than the feedback section. Being sure CCP is aware of threads and ideas within the feedback section is relevant of course, but the forums in their entirety aren't the whole player base and even if they were that lacks first had perspective.
When cats like Soraya and I speak of being a conduit for communication with the community we're talking about more than pointing a CCP Dev to a thread or link and saying "hey guy, read that". It's about condensing quality feedback from multiple sources and providing a TL;DR (with links) for CCP quick action. It's being in the game playing and then interacting (not just with CCP or CPM members) about what we see first hand to test it. It's keeping in mind various separate ideas and how they could effect each other to fit desired improvements into the game together and it's pushing all that through the added perspective of the NDA, then back out in as a complete (non-NDA breaking) form as possible to the community.
The CPM, in it's most effective form is about more than a single game aspect, and does more than simply index ideas or ping CCP when a thread pops up. I spend most of my forum time in the Feedback section and have since closed beta. I've always posted and bumped threads that need CCP attention and still do currently (for example) but there are conversations with players which happen in other forum sections, on Skype, via in game mail, in squads, etc etc There's testing, spreadsheets, videos and more that push ideas. This is all stuff I (and many CPM candidates) are already part of and have been for a long time.
So if we're already doing so much for the game why elected us? What makes any of us as CPM members more effective than what we're already doing? As Soraya says, it allows us the access and information to have those conversations with CCP that cannot take place in a public venue, ensure that those discussions take place at all, and then bring as much of them as we're able back to the community.
To my knowledge no one running for CPM is avoiding talking about the meaning or function of the CPM, there is simply little point in rehashing what has already been stated by CCP. Even in your above quote you state that CCP caring about the feedback section would be amazing, that getting them to maintain involvement there would be of value, well, CPMs have a higher than average level of communication with the Devs so being a member of the CPM affords the opportunity to draw CCPs attention to those posts in Features and Ideas Discussion in a way non of the candidates will be able to do otherwise, so even your post asking the purpose of the CPM provides one aspect of the answer to that very question.

I may not always have an answer to everything but I'm happy to provide my best efforts to field the question regardless (and as to links, well I find the feedback section interesting even when I don't have anything new/specific to add to a particular thread I read significantly more threads there than I have posts to make).
Speaking of boundaries in community communication, each candidate elected to a CPM seat will have vastly more value if they (hopefully we ) are able to earn sufficient trust from the community that we can be active points of community interaction. A CPM that isn't trusted will be vastly inferior in value to one that is trusted, but the office and forum tag do not magically bestow trust that's something each of us has to earn (as much as possible before the elections so we're effective from day 1). Questions like yours allow us the opportunity to present our views and understandings to the community, and hopefully build that trust. So thanks again for asking.

Questions like yours allow us the opportunity to present our views and understandings to the community, and hopefully build that trust. So thanks again for asking. ~ Cross You, sir, need to stop impressing me before I start to have hope again. That's a cruel thing to do to somebody in this game. Which brings me to my next question for you: Do you even have hope for a Dust game we envisioned, or have you, as well, left the fantasies and dreaming for Legion to accomplish? The only reason Dust will get content update is to beta test for legion, right? Fundamentally, there's nothing wrong with that, and it opens up Dust to be directly integrated into Legion someday, which is still quite possible. CCP changes there minds more often then a tsundere at that time of the month. But what exactly do you see Dust at by the end of your CPM term? Where will the community, CPM, and CCP stand? As it is now - each of the 3 groups stand on different platforms and are not seeing eye to eye. The reason the community distrust CPM has more to do with reputation as posters then it had to do with there involvement in the game. Hope can be a double edged sword, I admit, however if I had none for the game I wouldn't be here running for CPM.
Regarding your question, in a CPM term of one year I do not believe we'll see all the potential of Dust actualized. Even Legion development aside Dust 514 holds so much promise conceptually that a single year would be hard pressed to push it all into game in a functional state.
Functional state is actually the key as far as I see it, CCP Rattati is engaging with feedback in a way I wish we'd seen in closed beta and focusing on an iterative approach to balance. Continuing that trend and method (which would be both CCPs and the CPMs job) will help Dust begin to reach in game balance between things like items, roles, TTK, et al. I have no doubt there will be bumps in the road but bringing what we already have in Dust to a more polished state would make a substantial impact on game play and fun value. Even new content of some types isn't completely off the table (details) under the current development method.
Expanding, polishing, and stabilizing Dust 514 makes good business sense for CCP as I see it. If done well, it provides a lot of valuable and important data for Legion, positive word of mouth about their commitment to their games, a place for this community to migrate too (character transfers confirmed), and value added to the current play experience. This is not a guaranteed win of course, we need CCP to stay active and engaged, and honestly we need the same thing from the player community.
I'd love to promise the sky by the end of my CPM term, because frankly, I want the sky but I'm a bit more pragmatic than that so I'm shooting for a more attainable, if still lofty, goal. Bring the communication and interaction of the community, CPM and CCP into stronger alignment. Promote game balance and as much new content as possible and reach for an enjoyable worthwhile game experience within Dust while paving the way for meaningful character transfers into the improved experience of Legion (we all knew hardware migration would be required someday, so the key to Legion in my eyes is capitalizing on that while making best efforts not to leave the current community or our investments behind when the day for that hardware upgrade finally arrives).
I'm not kidding myself, it's a tall order for one year, but it's worth working for and I'd like the opportunity to give my best shot at making a contribution to it. (Silver lining? Even if we aim at that goal and fall short, we're still going to have a gain in game play experience so it doesn't have to be all or nothing... which is not to say the silver lining is any reason to push for an iota less than can be accomplished)
Cheers, Cross

Hello! Great read of the OP - really excited to see your first campaign discussion point is in fact the playerbase (something a lot of other candidates seem to have missed off their statements!) I couldnt agree more than this is the primary concern for a CPM group - i do how ever have some questions about this. Given the fanfest (some call it the Rouge Wedding) poor comms incident and its subsequent fall out that saw quite a few big playerbase groups quit the game entirely - and not in a very nice way - what do you feel you would have done given that the CPM0 knew about the entire situation well before hand and were bound by the NDA to not release it. How would you have handled such a large and playerbase impacting 'hot potato'? what more could have been done perhaps by the CPM to reduce / negate the drama this cause to the playerbase? It is difficult to answer such a question conclusively, considering that we are all - myself included - essentially blind to what the specific constraints of the NDA were and what information was or was not able to be discussed or disclosed in any manner. If for example the blanket edict from CCP was that "nothing connected to Legion may be discussed" then there's functionally almost no legal recourse for a member of the CPM but to sit on their hands and fume in quite frustration (as far as public discourse goes). And to abjectly rail against such

CEOPyrex CloneA wrote:Also i note that your 2nd campaign policy is based on the Legion product and not Dust 514, what do you feel Dust 514 should have or do in this area of discussion? could more emergent game play be built into Dust? do you feel CCP should be developing Dust for this? On this point you note incorrectly. While I do have connecting elements highlighting emergent game play ideas within the context of Legion, emergent game play is the fundamental bedrock of New Eden and by no means is it limited to Legion or should it be considered as absent from/irrelevant too Dust 514.
Put directly, the emergent gameplay aspect of my platform applies to every game in New Eden, but as a CPM my interaction with it would be via Dust 514 since that is the game which I would be elected as a community representative of.
As to Dust specifics, I currently lean towards aspects such as role/niche definition, tiericide, removal of "dead/blank" skill levels, reintroduction of absent vehicle types (and a commensurate buff to infantry based AV). But in the final analysis it would be my role as a community rep to pass on community feedback to CCP on this subject, not try to define it myself. The key point for emergent game play as I see it, is to provide for a dynamic set of player choices in a persistent environment. Obviously that does not contain the specific road map, but it is a guiding goal and I would specifically shy away from the conception that the CPM, let alone any single member on it, should specifically define any such things.
CEOPyrex CloneA wrote:And on your last point - Cross Platform integration - it was a great read and certainly gives route for some exciting product development but i would like to clarify, are you suggesting Dust 514 should be put across platforms or is this another Legion deliverable you wish to be part of?
Thanks for clarifications and replies!
CEO Regarding cross platform aspects. I believe that the ideal situation is one in which all meaningful Dust assets are eventually migrated to Legion (say once Sony ceases support for the PS3 hardware) and that at such a time Legion be available for play on both the PC and PS4. I acknowledge, as NanoCleric points out that there are some technical hurdles to overcome here and that it is likely most effective and actionable to get a stable and balanced Legion 1.0 build live before pushing out to console, purely for the technical aspects therein (such as Sony approval process and that even console only games are natively coded and developed on computers thus enabling a more rapid and dynamic environment for development polish to be applied. However while acknowledging the technical side of things, and further that the CPM has been stated to have only a limited level of involvement/access with regards to Legion I would very much like to support our console based community members as well. There are aspects which can be taken into account from a basic level which lend themselves to an effective console deployment without requiring one prior to iterating on them. Including controller support rather than just KBM is one obvious example, still an asset even on PC only but lends itself to a faster transition onto PS4. Depending on the mechanical features of Legion (such as how the skill system works etc) elements of the UI can be iterated on in a flexible way to provide needed adaptability. Again this is an asset even while Legion is on the PC, but paves the way for a deployment on PS4 as well. Hardware optimization is another, it is of value to be able to play on as many hardware configurations as possible and there's little reason to avoid testing the Legion client on a PS4 hardware equivalent in advance of an actual port. I don't claim to have an exhaustive list of possible considerations, but what I do have is a firm belief that as much as technically possible our entire Dust community should be represented in the ongoing choices made coming from CCP with regards to both Dust 514 and Project Legion.
Thanks for the questions and I hope if there are any more you will feel free to ask
Cheers, Cross

Great reply, thanks for taking the time to reply to my questions so fully and honestly.
I think that you are in a good place to gain a seat, you are showing some real credibility and something that i think is perhaps missing from others campaigns which is 'rigour'
That term being perhaps something we do need to see in the CPM is a level of rigour that expands them away from being merely unpaid gamers talking about a game to that of a resource giving a serious narrative of the micro and macro environmental conditions that are effecting (and will continue to effect) Dust 514, Legion and CCP.
my slight concern would be that much of what you are proposing to lead the charge on will never be developed on Dust 514 so perhaps you may find you have little to no voice / platform in the immediate chain of events until Legion activities come through?
This isn't my opinion, more a question of confirmation?
Thanks and good luck with the campaign!
CEO Thanks for the questions, an engaged player base makes for a stronger game (in my perception) so the interaction is appreciated.
The first and foremost thing I'd like to lead the charge on is expanding and cementing community interaction/communication with CCP. I respect what CCP Rattati and his team have done post FanFest but I don't think that communication is one of those things where you reach a reasonable point and then put it on a shelf and call it "done". It should be, in my view, an ongoing process and an interactive one between CCP and the community. That is my foremost priority, the fostering of that interchange, and that can start happening right out of the gate. From there my further commitment to Dust 514 and the office of CPM would be guided greatly by the context and player base. I used the tag "emergent candidate" not just because I believe in emergent gameplay but also emergent Dust development where the choices of the community matter and where even the Devs at the highest levels can be surprised and pleased by what we as players manage to come up with and accomplish with the assets we have. Even if everything else I'd like to accomplish were somehow off the table until Legion, which I'm not completely resigned to it being so, the heart of my desire to run, the desire for meaningful communication and persistent player choice (but in and outside of the game client) offers enough to keep me active and engaged through the entity of a CPM 1 term should the players deem me to be one of the seven selected for a seat.
If you'd care to delve into further details of this subject in a more organic format I'd willingly join you for an interview prior to the election
Thanks again for stopping by and bringing questions Cheers, Cross

Glad I could get the chance to converse with you on the topic of community interaction and Dust 514 emergent options prior to the election in a few days.
As ever, appreciate the questions

Thanks for the continued questions and conversation NanoCleric, it's great to have people engaged in this election I know not everyone has the same time/involvement level so I hope you'll share your impressions and information with the guys you know in game. The more folks who turn out to vote, and the better informed they are, the better the overall results will be.
I appreciate your support and please do feel free to bring up any other questions or concerns you may have now or later. Not only during the election process but especially if I am one of the seven elected.
Cheers, Cross

I believe that voting privacy is deeply important to protect. However in the specific case of my ballot I also felt it important to share not only the selections, but more importantly the reasoning and methodology that went into them. My thoughts on this subject can be found here and I encourage the community to inspect them. I believe the motivation behind why I've made the selections that I have is relevant to my candidacy as I have throughout my run kept front and center the awareness that the members of CPM 1 will - in effect - form a squad out of game and an inability to work professionally and effectively together (while still not always agreeing with each other) is central to the fundamental premise of CPM 1 as a value added resource for the community.

Below I am linking the endorsement threads (or posts), and ballot declarations of each candidate who has made a public declaration that I am aware of. I am presenting this for informational purposes so that our community can not only select a robust CPM 1 to represent them but also select a CPM 1 that will bothhold each other accountable (by not always simply 'going along to get along') and also work as a team (so that we don't waste valuable community time on pointless bickering and infighting).
The list is as follows

The elections have started, but that does not mean that the communication is closed. If anyone has questions to pose please feel free, I'm happy to field constructive questions to the best of my ability (hey, I'll even field outright trolling questions sometimes I'm a bit on the talkative side).

Waffles or pancakes? OOoooo, hum, can I go with German Pancakes (while hoping this isn't one of those horrible US naming conventions like "french fries"). Those guys, with some fresh fruit, are super tasty.
